Had a vibration in my front end on my way up to Kansas City to visit my wife. Dropped my truck off at 8 in the morning. The called me at 10:22 to let me know my alignment was fine. I went ahead and had them rebalance and rotate my tires. Called me back again at 11:16 to say my truck was ready for pickup. Great service and very trustworthy. No appointment at all just dropped it off and they took care of me. Will definitely be my go to spot in KC. Thanks again!

And as we know, it's not. Turns out the mechanic back home made a Oopsie. By the time I rolled into Kansas City on Friday, I knew I needed help and fast! After some overwhelming online searching I found KC Brake & Auto. Their online reviews? GLOWING! So on Monday at 8:00 a.m., I called, hopeful they could squeeze me in. Welp, nope. They were already full for the day. First come, first served. Lesson learned. So Tuesday morning, I showed up at 7:08 a.m. and ended up fourth in line waiting for the doors to open. By 7:30? It looked like a Cars Anonymous meeting, 'Hi, my name is Rusty and I leak oil'. lol. There were at least 11 people behind me. Moral of the story, get there there early. When it was my turn to check in, I was greeted by Kevin, the owner, and instantly understood why this place gets high marks. He and his team are genuinely kind, impressively patient, and refreshingly honest. No upselling. No nonsense. Just real talk and real solutions. Kevin later called to explain what the issue was and how they’d fix it. Long story short? KC Brake & Auto is the real deal if you're looking for peace of mind and a trusting auto repair team. If your car’s throwing a tantrum and you're anywhere near KCMO, KC Brake and Auto is the spot!

These guys are very informative about what they are doing to to your vehicle. They do an inspection and then you get to see the list of items that passed or need attention. They also don’t work in your vehicle until you approve the job that is to be done. The prices are great and very reasonable. To make things even better their communication is top notch. Nice folks. They fixed up my vehicle to get it able to pass a safety inspection. Also checked an engine light (ended up being a catalytic converter issue). They were nice and let me ask a lot of questions about each item they were charging for, as well as my options for repairing the catalytic converter. Reasonable prices for parts and labor as well. Make sure to get there when they open though, they apparently fill up the shop quickly.

I recently needed a significant repair done to my older vehicle and decided to try KC Brake. I can tell you from my experience that they are very knowledgeable, and their follow through on the job was second to none. Kevin was honest about what it would take to complete the fix and shot me a fair price for the repair. They told me exactly what other things were wrong with my car when I went in for repairs. I was aware of the other issues, but the fact that they came to the exact same conclusion as me and my master mechanic father was impressive! I went ahead and had them do some more work since I was there. Bonus = The Tow truck driver that towed me there (not associated in any way with Kevin's business) damaged the back of my car, and Kevin was able to provide me with video providing me proof. A++++++ Highly recommended. Going back next month for my other CV Axle replacement and new Alternator and Power steering pump.

We broke down in KC on our way to St louis. It was in the afternoon. All other shops told us they couldn't see us. These guys got us in and it turned out we needed a new engine. Instead of taking advantage they told us our vehicle (2014) had a warranty and may be able tohave the engine reached for free. We wouldn't have known this. I appreciate their honesty. They also let us sit in their shop while our ride (4 hours away) came. Thank you Moose and the rest of y'all. Your kindness and honesty did not go unnoticed. I really appreciated the straightforward way they spoke to me about my vehicle. They did the work and in my opinion went above and beyond to help me out by installing an extra part! I will definitely be back. Update: I had a brake controller installed here before a trip to Idaho to tow back a travel trailer, and initially, I was very pleased with the service. However, when I went to hook up my trailer, I discovered the controller wasn't wired correctly, which was stressful to deal with and required last-minute repairs. It was a frustrating situation, but I'm hoping this was a rare issue. I appreciated the professionalism of the staff, but I wish that they would have made sure the part was working before sending it off.

Prices seem competitive. They are willing to help in a pinch sometimes. However, due to volume, it can sometimes take a few days for them to get to your vehicle, so you may have to drop it off and either leave it for a bit or drop it and pick it up several days before they are able to compelte the service. While this is inconvenient, the guys are always kind and communicative about the situations.

There are a great group of technicians here that saved me during an emergency I had. Ironically, I was at the shop to drop off some old steel parts to have them picked up for recycling at their shop. While I was there making the drop off, my entire steering system collapsed on the right side. I was stuck in the driveway of the shop and totally immobilized. 3 of the guys came out right away to assess the damage and jump into action. This wasn’t anything planned and they had other repairs that they were working on so I felt really bad. All of the guys were kind and professional as they began fixing the steering issue. After roughly an hour of working on the car, they got everything installed and buttoned up. It was good as new. I can’t thank the guys enough for the quick response and their willingness to jump in to help without warning. I have been coming to the shop since moving to KC so I knew that they were good technicians but this incident just proved that they are also good people deep down. Thanks a bunch guys!!

I was visiting KC when the clutch master cylinder blew out on my Honda Accord. Without a clutch, the car was not drivable. They knew exactly what to do, and they did it efficiently, which kept the cost down to a minimum. The got me back on the road home on schedule. Kevin's Auto Service literally saved the day for me! I thought there was something MAJOR wrong with my car (I Googled & diagnosed the problem myself and was very, very wrong LOL) brought car to Kevin's and they were 1,000% honest and trustworthy when a lot of people out there would not be...fixed the issue and I had my car back in a few hours! I've been to Kevin's several times and they always give expert, honest, sound advice and take all the worry out of stressful vehicle issues. BEST auto service ever, hands down! We’re on a long road trip. We needed tire repair and a battery, and our son-in-law recommended Kevin’s. We have an unusual vehicle and the battery replacement is not an easy job. They were friendly, informative, and went the extra mile to make things affordable, not trying to upsell us at all. Being from out of town, some places might have tried to rip us off, a little or a lot. But Cody and his crew solved our problems and were honest, thorough, and accommodating. We will be in KC again, and when we are, these guys will get our business.

I had gotten into my car one morning and went to put my key in the ignition and the ignition was on the floor, someone had attempted to steal my car and busted up my steering column. Luckily I was able to get my car towed to KC Brake and Auto. This was second time using them for auto repairs, they were able to take it in that day, the next morning they gave me the information on what was needed for the repair and what it would cost, once they got the parts delivered the work was done in 1-2 days. They gave me a call when they were finishing up and let me know that there was a cost update and they were able to actually save me about $300! The entire time they were great at communicating, easy to reach and very clear to understand. I really appreciate how they were able to help me out and will definitely continue to use them!

These are likely the best mechanics in KC, specifically for European makes. Don’t want to pay dealership overcharges, but still want quality work and attention to detail, and this place has got it all. Have taken my Audi to them twice. I have a kid in a KC college and this shop provided great service to a daughter away from home. After smelling fuel through the vents, Kevin's shop got her in quickly and cleaned the engine off and had her on her way. They topped off the oil and replaced the cap all at a super reasonable price. We will definitely use them again when in KC.

Got my rear brakes and rotors replaced here, for $360, for a 2003 honda accord. I asked them to give me an opinion on whether my struts need replacing and they said I could hold off. Pretty honest service. Dropped the car off at 7:30am, was done at 3pm. They called me before performing the service on the vehicle to confirm the job and the cost, and updated me when it was ready for pickup. 10/10 great service.

Engine replaced truck work preformed was outstanding. Had to wait but it was worth it I knew as soon as I drove my truck it never run are preform like this. What got me was the lead mechanic told me he would work on my vehicle as if it was his own. That what you get from this business they repair your vehicle as if it there own.

Overall it was a pleasant experience. The price was fair the guys were friendly and professional. I wish I was able to sit and wait instead of dropping vehicle off but that is simply for my convenience. I have no complaints. I recently visited this location again. My car was complicated and more work then we initially thought. I’d again give them 5 stars. I appreciate companies that don’t take the frustration of unexpected issues out their customers. I believe Kevin’s wanted to be sure my car was repair correctly which means a lot as someone who relies so heavily on their vehicle.

I'm currently living in trifling mid-town where catalytic converters are fair game. KC Brakes made some recommendations and installed a new system for me. These guys are legit. I grew up in a shop very similar to this and it makes me happy that there are still people like this in the business.

Kevin and his team are fantastic! I called them at 3pm on Friday afternoon when they closed at 5pm, and they were able to get my car in that day after I arranged a tow. They called Monday at 10am with their diagnosis and quote, which was on the low end of what I expected for alternator+belt replacement. They were able to get my car taken care of by 2pm the same day! They were very efficient and friendly, both personally and budget-wise. I’ll definitely be taking my car in for any future maintenance or repair it needs. Thank you, guys!

A few years back I brought my car here for a repair, and they told me, “We could fix it for $XXX, but you could probably get it fixed for less if you took it to a dealer.” It was so honest, and they’ve been my go-to shop ever since. They keep things simple with a no-appointments, first-come-first-served system. They always fix just the things I asked for and never try to sell me on other repairs. Usually they get to it the same day, and the Crossroads location means I can drop off first thing, take the streetcar to work, pick up at closing, and drive myself home. Convenient, friendly, knowledgeable, and honest.
